Lena Dunham Compares Donald Trump to Mass Murderer Dylann Roof

The 'Girls' creator paralleled the president to the convicted white supremacist on Twitter.

Lena Dunham said she believes that Donald Trump is "a racist with untreated mental illness," and compared him to the convicted mass murderer Dylann Roof.

The Girls creator and star tweeted the comment in response to a thread by Full Frontal With Samantha Bee writer Travon Free, in which he explained that the mainstream media is too afraid to call the president a racist.

"If @realDonaldTrump is not a racist who is? What do white people think a racist is?... This is one of the overwhelming problems with American media today. Y'all are afraid to call a racist what he is. A racist," Free tweeted. "I'll end this by trying to help every journalist and analyst in America: @realDonaldTrump is a racist. Feel free to take it from there."

Dunham then replied in agreement and paralleled the president to Roof, the convicted white supremacist who killed nine black Charleston citizens at a church in 2015. "Not only is he a racist but he's a racist with untreated mental illness," she said. "So under diff circumstances he's Dylann Roof."

The comments come after Trump made headlines for calling NFL players, most of whom are black, who kneel during the national anthem as a form of protest against police brutality and racial injustice, "son of a bitch," while previously deeming those who participated in the Charlottesville, Va., white supremacist rally "some very fine people."

Dunham is no stranger to pointed Trump comments, and is one of the participants of the upcoming splashy Trump doc titled 11/8/16.
