The writer/actress/producer decided to support the cause while co-hosting a party with Brian Tyree Henry.

The Golden Globes may not have been a black out for Time's Up, but that didn't stop Lena Waithe from celebrating the weekend by sporting some political apparel.

The writer/actress/producer donned a Black Lives Matter T-shirt and ripped jeans when she co-hosted the Film Independent Spirit Awards Nominees Brunch with Brian Tyree Henry on Saturday. Waithe wore the official three-stripe shirt — available on the BLM Arts+Culture platform for $30 for a tee or $36 for a long-sleeve — for the party at Boa Steakhouse on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, which was attended by Glenn Close, John Cho, Regina King, Richard E. Grant, Yalitza Aparicio, Bo Burnham and Elsie Fisher.

And that's not to say other causes weren't supported on Globes weekend, as some chose to support the sexual harassment awareness movement with Time's Up ribbons on the Globes red carpet, including HFPA president Meher Tatna, Rachel Brosnahan, Laura Dern, Yvonne Strahovski and Kathryn Newton.

Waithe frequently uses her wardrobe to send political messages. She wore a rainbow pride cape to the Heavenly Bodies Met Gala last May and showed off her streetwear at the premiere of The Chi downtown in January 2018 with a Chicago sweatshirt and neon kicks.

For the Golden Globes ceremony, Waithe reined it in with a sleek all-black suit from Prada and a blonde 'do from Barber Doll the Slayer.

The Black Lives Matter movement was also represented on the red carpet at last year's Oscars when BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors attended and wore a giant pin on the strap of her dress (and who could forget when actress Jenifer Lewis supported activist Colin Kaepernick by wearing Nike to the Emmys? Waithe posted about the moment on her Instagram). Kerry Washington, John Legend and Zendaya are among other stars to support BLM.
