Deakins, who picked up his second Oscar from 15 nominations earlier this year for '1917,' is set to be knighted.

Lesley Manville is among those being awarded in the British New Year Honours scheme, which this year will recognize 1,239 individuals for their "extraordinary contributions" to the U.K.

The actress — known for her frequent collaborations with Mike Leigh, an Oscar nominee in 2017 for Phantom Thread and due to play Princess Margaret in seasons five and six of The Crown — is being appointed as CBE (Commander of the British Empire), adding to the OBE (Order of the British Empire) she received in 2015.

Elsewhere, cinematographer Roger Deakins, already a CBE, is set to receive a knighthood. A regular behind the camera for the Coen Brothers, Denis Villeneuve and Sam Mendes, Deakins has amassed 15 Oscar nominations over his career, finally winning for Blade Runner 2049 and, earlier this year for 1917.

Meanwhile, screen and stage regular Toby Jones — known for playing Arnim Zola in Captain America: The First Avenger and Captain America: Winter Soldier— is set to receive an OBE for his services to drama.

Already an OBE and CBE, actress and author Sheila Hancock is being made a dame for services to drama and charity.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the COVID-19 crisis, public sector workers make up the bulk of this year's list, with 14.8 percent of the honors going to firefighters, medical professionals, teachers, police officers and local government workers.
