This Is What Leslie Jones Ended Up Wearing to the 'Ghostbusters' Premiere
In repsonse to the actress' statement that no designers would dress her for the premiere, Christian Siriano volunteered for the job.
Looks like a designer came through for Leslie Jones after all.
Earlier this month, the Saturday Night Live actress tweeted that designers refused to dress her for Saturday evening's Ghostbusters premiere. "It's so funny how there are no designers wanting to help me with a premiere dress for movie," she tweeted. "Hmmm that will change and I remember everything."
The Hollywood Reporter power stylists Jeanne Yang and Jessica Paster noted that it wasn't necessarily designers' fault that they didn't have options for Jones to wear, given that she's not a sample size and fashion houses rarely have garments in other sizes ready to go at a moment's notice.
However, shortly thereafter, designer Christian Siriano replied to Jones' tweet with a simple, straight-forward response: Raised hand and waving-hand emojis.
In the week following their Twitter exchange, the pair posted several photos to social media from inside Siriano's studio. "Up to no good," the designer captioned one image. Jones posted the same photo, writing, "Thinking of a master plan w/ @csiriano."
It looks like that master plan paid off, as the actress hit the red carpet in Los Angeles on Saturday looking stunning in a red, off-the-shoulder gown as she posed alongside her Ghostbusters co-stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy and Kate McKinnon.
Jones' stylist Brian McPhatter completed her look with a layered diamond necklace.
