Leslie Simmons moves to AFTRA

Joins as manager of communications

Leslie Simmons, a former labor and legal reporter for The Hollywood Reporter, was named manager of communications at AFTRA on Thursday.

Based in Los Angeles, she will report to communications director Christopher de Haan, with duties including coordinating with AFTRA locals and national departments and serving as managing editor of AFTRA's Web site and quarterly member magazine.

"We're pleased that Leslie is joining the AFTRA staff at such an important time in the industry," de Haan said. "Leslie's extensive coverage of legal and labor issues in the entertainment and media industries gives her an in-depth understanding of the issues confronting working performers."

Before joining THR in 2006, Simmons worked at the Daily Journal, City News Service and Inside.com.
