'Power to the Pixel' draws UKFC, YouTube execs

LONDON -- Next month's BFI London Film Festival will see the return of an expanded digital distribution and movie innovation forum.

The industry-led event, which will run for three days -- one more than last year -- will include a brainstorming session on future models of independent film and media.

Titled "Power to the Pixel," the forum is set for Oct. 22-24 at the BFI Southbank and the Royal Society for Arts. It aims to bring together industry experts to discuss how sustainable businesses and careers can be built in this new digital era.

Topics will range from "The Latest Financing and Distribution Models" to "Audience Behavior" and "How to Build Online Audiences and Fan-bases."

Confirmed speakers include Tribeca Film Institute president Brian Newman, YouTube USA manager of film and animation Sara Pollack and Peter Buckingham, U.K. Film Council distribution and exhibition chief.
