LFF sets mid-October start

LONDON -- Organizers of this year's London Film Festival said this year's event will take place Oct. 15-30.

Festival director Sandra Hebron said the October dates will make the LFF "ideally positioned to premiere high-profile quality titles due for winter and spring release, as well as to showcase some of the most hotly anticipated awards contenders."

It's an early shot across the programming bows of the U.K.'s other international film shindig, the Edinburgh International Film Festival, which this year moves up from its decades old August dates to June 18-29.
