New 'Light Between Oceans' Trailer Takes Alicia Vikander's Character's Point of View

The actress stars with Michael Fassbender in the period drama from 'Blue Valentine's' Derek Cianfrance.

Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender are here for your awards-season tears.

The new trailer for their period drama The Light Between Oceans provides a little more background on Vikander's Isabel and Fassbender's Tom, who operate a lighthouse on an isolated island.

Although many of the same scenes in this spot can be seen in the first trailer that debuted back in February, this clip is positioned from the point of view of Isabel (the first was meant to be from Tom's perspective).

In this preview, viewers learn of the couple's issues with conception and miscarriages, making the appearance of a boat-bound baby all the more heartwarming. Rachel Weisz also plays a larger role in this trailer, as the biological mother of the baby.

Derek Cianfrance directed the period drama that will, without a doubt, be an emotional one.

The Light Between Oceans hits theaters on Sept. 2.
