Lily-Rose Depp Hosts Chanel No. 5 L'Eau Dinner for A-List Millennials
Kristen Stewart, Pharrell Williams and some of Hollywood’s bold-name offspring (Reese Witherspoon's daughter, Ava, included) feted the brand’s new fragrance.
Who says millennials are luxe-averse?
A new generation of Hollywood Chanel devotees stepped out for last night’s Chanel No. 5 L’Eau dinner hosted by Lily-Rose Depp at Sunset Tower in L.A. Fellow brand ambassadors Kristen Stewart and Pharrell Williams joined the 17-year-old hostess along with the town’s A-list offspring: Reese Witherspoon's daughter, Ava Phillippe, 17; Pierce Brosnan’s son Dylan, 19; and NBCUniversal vice chairman Ron Meyer's daughter Carson, 22 (joined by big sis Jennifer Meyer).
The cause for celebration was the brand’s new fragrance, No. 5 L’Eau — an updated version of Chanel No. 5 — and a fresh campaign starring the Yoga Hosers actress. “It’s very nostalgic, and, for me, it’s the most iconic fragrance that there is. I remember smelling Chanel No. 5 when I was growing up and putting it on and feeling very womanly,” Depp told THR.
“I’ve loved Chanel for as long as I can remember, and I have always admired Karl [Lagerfeld] and his talent. For me, it’s the only fashion house that simultaneously evolves with the times, but also keeps this sense of class and an otherworldly level of exquisite taste.”

Guests dined on shrimp cocktails, deviled eggs, crudite, iceberg wedge salad and thyme-roasted chicken (with Tower Bar french fries) and were treated to a special performance by hip-hop artist Nas during the dessert course (passed trays of mini berry crumble, chocolate-chip cookies and s’mores). A larger-than-life silhouette of the iconic No. 5 perfume bottle was emblazoned onto the Sunset Tower facade.
While the night was decidedly young and hip, it was ultimately about the repositioning of one of the brand’s most iconic symbols — at an iconic Hollywood spot — so it isn’t surprising that one longtime Lagerfeld muse was on hand. Model turned actress Milla Jovovich arrived looking effortlessly cool, clad in quilted Chanel jeans.

“As a little girl, I remember my mom sitting at her dresser putting on Chanel No. 5 before she went out to dinner with my dad, so it’s one of my very first glamorous memories of getting ready,” said Jovovich, who appeared in Chanel ad campaigns in the late '90s. When it comes to fashion’s new guard, Jovovich can’t wait to share some of her favorite Chanel accessories with her two young girls: “When I was five months pregnant with my first daughter, I did a Chanel accessories campaign, and at that point, I hadn’t said anything to anyone, so I went to Karl’s studio heavily pregnant and was like, ‘Ta-da!’ And he was so sweet, and he took out a big bag and stuck it right in front of me, and he then sent me home with the purse afterwards, so it’s one of my most treasured pieces.”
