Lionsgate Inks Output Deal With Italy's Leone Film Group

The mini-studio will supply its own and Summit titles to the Italian distributor as it continues to build out its worldwide releasing network.

TORONTO - Continuing to build out its worldwide distribution network, Lionsgate has inked an output agreement with Italy's Leone Film Group, it was announced Monday.

The agreement covers feature films from Lionsgate and Summit labels, and was finalized at the Berlin Film Festival.

Lionsgate will also pact on promotional opportunities with Leone’s Pacmedia promotional group.

"We have closely followed Leone Film Group’s emergence as a major force in the Italian marketplace, and we’re delighted to establish a long-term partnership with them for the distribution of our feature films in Italy,” said Lionsgate motion picture group co-chairmen Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger.

The Italian deal has Lionsgate covering around 80 per cent of the world market outside China and India with its output agreements.

Those include deals with StudioCanal in Germany, Nordisk Films in Scandinavia, Aurum Producciones in Spain, Roadshow Pictures in Australia and Metropolitan Filmworks in France.

Lionsgate also continues to release its own titles in Britain and has a joint distribution venture with IDC in Latin America.
