Lionsgate Pacts With RocketJump Studios For Digital Content

The studio is partnering with YouTube star Freddie Wong to create film, TV and digital content.

TORONTO -- Lionsgate is pacting with YouTube star Freddie Wong's RocketJump Studios to create film, TV and digital content.

Wong, who created hit web series Video Game High School, launched RocketJump Studios four years ago with Matt Arnold and Dez Dolly.

Now Lionsgate will tap into RocketJump's digital content and fan base, while RocketJump will use Lionsgate's global marketing strength to reach a wider audience.

"This partnership unites two entrepreneurial companies with similar cultures and a shared commitment to build new models for creating and delivering content to the next generation of audiences," Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said in a statement.

Wong added: "Lionsgate stood out as the one studio that really gets our brand and will give us the freedom to flourish as digital content creators and distributors."

Lionsgate already has stakes in the Defy Media online platform and the BeFit branded fitness channel on YouTube.
