Liz Heldens inks UMS deal

Will remain on new NBC drama 'Mercy' under the pact

On the heels of landing her first series order with NBC's upcoming drama "Mercy," show creator Liz Heldens has inked a new two-year overall deal with "Mercy" producer Universal Media Studios.

Under the seven-figure pact, Heldens will serve as executive producer/showrunner on "Mercy," a dramedy starring Taylor Schilling, Jamie Lee Kirchner and Michelle Trachtenberg as nurses bound in friendship.

Heldens exec produces alongside Gretchen Berg, Aaron Harberts, Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun.

In addition to creating "Mercy," under her previous overall deal with UMS, Heldens was a co-executive producer on the studio's critically praised drama "Friday Night Lights."

Her series credits also include "Dawson's Creek."

She is repped by ICM and attorney Ken Richman.
