Locarno Film Fest to launch Industry Days

Three days of private screenings, workshops, round tables

ROME -- This year's Locarno Film Festival, the 63rd edition of the stories event, will see the launch of a new initiative called Industry Days, three days of private screenings, workshops, and round tables aimed at industry professionals.

The sidebar will take place Aug. 7-9, finishing near the mid-way point of the Aug. 4-14 lakeside Swiss festival.

Organizers said that Industry Days will also let industry professionals on hand take part in events linked to the Open Doors co-production film lab, which will focus on Central Asian film this year.

"With these Industry Days, we want to provide Locarno with an additional asset as a platform for professional networking and a meeting place for the independent film industry," Locarno artistic director Olivier Pere said in a statement.
