Locarno's Tiziana Finzi stepping down

Festival has no replacement yet for head of programming

ROME -- Tiziana Finzi, head of programming at the Locarno Film Festival, said Tuesday that she is leaving the festival for what she called "personal reasons."

The festival did not name a replacement for Finzi, who came to Locarno from Italy nine years ago. In an unusual move, Finzi personally announced her decision in an e-mail rather than leaving it to the festival to announce the change.

The decision comes days after the festival announced that Frenchman Olivier Pere, head of Cannes' Directors' Fortnight sidebar, would succeed Frederic Maire as Locarno's artistic director after next year's festival.
