Time Warner Cable SportsNet L.A. leads station awards with two wins.

Nominations for the Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards were announced Thursday, and local Univision affiliate KMEX again leads local broadcasters. The Spanish-Language channel tops all with 24 nominations.

The L.A.-centric Emmys, which regrettably still don't have an Outstanding Car Chase Coverage category, will be handed out July 25 at the Skirball Cultural Center Guerin Pavilion in Herscher Hall.

Each of the three station award categories, which honor regularly scheduled daily news, were selected by the Television Academy's national active and Los Angeles Area Peer Group active members. (Time Warner Cable SportsNet L.A. was the only net with two wins.)

A full list of nominees is available at the Academy's web site, but other channels leading the pack include Telemundo affiliate KVEA (18 nominations), sister nets CBS2/KCAL9 (15 nominations) and independent station KCET and NBC4 (both pulling 12 nominations).
