'Lost' to get day-and-date int'l finale
Will air in some territories within 48 hours of U.S. broadcastLONDON -- "Lost" fans in the U.K. Spain, Israel, Portugal, Turkey and Canada will get to watch the show's finale day-and-date with the U.S., while fans in 59 countries will see it within 48 hours of the U.S. broadcast, Disney said Thursday.
The move is part of Disney's anti-piracy strategy of giving fans what they want.
The finale, due to air May 23 at 9 p.m. PST will broadcast simultaneously on Sky 1 in the U.K. Fox Italia and Telecom Italia in Italy, Cuatro Spain, Fox Spain and Portugal, Digiturk Turkey, HOT Israel and CTV Canada, regardless of the time difference, with subtitles for the non-English speaking territories.
Further territories including Poland, Germany, the Netherlands and the Middle East will air the show between 24 and 48 hours after the U.S. showing.
Ben Pyne, president, global distribution, Disney Media Networks said the show's "intrinsic global appeal" had driven the decision.
