Louis Vuitton Is Heading to Brazil for Its Next Cruise Show
Rio de Janeiro is having a big year.
Apparently the Zika virus is not much of a concern for those behind the scenes at Louis Vuitton, because the French fashion house has just revealed that it is staging the 2017 Cruise show in Brazil on May 28. Of course, the South American country is also the where the 2016 Summer Olympics will take place in August.
The official announcement came via the luxury brand’s Instagram, in the form of several photographs of the actual location: the Niterói Contemporary Art Museum in Rio de Janeiro, which has never hosted a fashion show. Its last location, the Bob Hope estate in Palm Springs, was equally futuristic in appearance.
According to the posts, the unique setting — the museum is reopening publicly and celebrating its 20th anniversary — instantly inspired creative director Nicolas Ghesquiere. "It’s about being transported into a relationship where nature, geography and architecture come together," he was quoted as saying on Instagram. The scene is undoubtedly beautiful, but it must be a bummer for any expectant editors, celebrities and buyers.
