Lucasfilm Tweaks new image playback software

Lucasfilm has selected young software development company Tweak Software's new RV playback application for use at all of its entities, including Industrial Light+Magic, Lucasfilm Animation, Lucasfilm Animation Singapore and LucasArts.

RV, the first product from Tweak, is a real-time, film resolution, high-dynamic-range image and sequence viewer for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. The application includes native support for stereoscopic 3-D.

The software was developed by Tweak Software founders Jim Hourihan, a recipient of two SciTech Academy Awards and a developer of the Dynamation particle system; and Seth Rosenthal, former ILM motion capture supervisor.

"With Tweak's RV, we found software that we can customize and integrate into our pipelines for film, animation and episodic production," Lucasfilm CTO Richard Kerris said. RV will replace Loupe software at Lucasfilm. (partialdiff)
