Las Ventanas al Paraiso and Esperanza will remain closed indefinitely as the damage is assessed

This story first appeared in the Sept. 26 issue of The Hollywood Reporter magazine.

Hollywood vacation hotspot Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, got hit hard Sept. 15 by Hurricane Odile — a Category 3 storm that leveled homes, damaged hotels and ripped down power and phone lines. Some of the town's top luxury destinations remain dark while reservation officials scrambled to inform industryites of closures that could affect vacation plans for weeks to come.

A representative for Las Ventanas al Paraiso resort tells THR, "Until the resort can fully assess the damage and ensure its overall safety, Las Ventanas will remain closed." Same at Esperanza, whose GM Marc Rodriguez says, "We are currently reviewing the damage."

A tweet from Capella Pedregal was more uplifting: "Best news is everyone — guests and employees — are safe."
