Lynn trades Nick U.K. for MTV

LONDON -- MTV Networks International has promoted Nickelodeon U.K. managing director David Lynn to the post of executive vp and managing director MTV networks U.K. and Ireland. He steps into the shoes of 20-year MTV veteran Michiel Bakker, who quit last week in the wake of a restructuring that will see about 250 MTVNI jobs axed, around 8% of the total workforce.

Reporting to MTVNI president Bob Bakish, Lynn will be responsible for all of MTV's British operations, including the MTV and VH1 branded channels, Web sites and mobile TV channels.

He also will oversee its interests in its 50% joint venture businesses with BSkyB -- Nickelodeon U.K. and Paramount Comedy Channel U.K.

Also promoted and reporting to Lynn is Heather Jones, who takes on the post of executive vp content and creative. She will oversee all multiplatform content and brand strategy for U.K. music and comedy brands across linear TV, digital media and the related U.K.-based production operations.

"Having orchestrated two of the U.K.'s hottest media brand successes in Nickelodeon and Paramount Comedy, David and Heather will be a dynamic, talented, management duo to lead our biggest international business," Bakish said.
