M6 joins DTT wave this month

Digital channel initially covers 40% of territory

CANNES -- French TV network M6 will be available for free in high-definition on the country's Digital Terrestrial Television platform as of Oct. 30, the broadcaster said Wednesday.

The new DTT channel will cover 40% of the French population and, as of May 31, will reach 60% of Gallic households.

In 2009, the network will air 30% of its programs in the 4 p.m.-midnight time slot in high-definition and hopes to expand to 80% in HD by 2012.
