'Mad Max: Fury Road' Named Rotten Tomatoes' Best Reviewed Film of 2015

'Mad Max: Fury Road'

"It's always gratifying to have a positive critical response. It is, after all, how we learn about our work," said director George Miller.

It's nice to be fresh.

Rotten Tomatoes has announced the recipients of the 17th  Annual Golden Tomato Awards, which honor the best reviewed films and television programming of 2015.

Mad Max: Fury Road received the highest percentage of positive reviews out of any movie with a wide release and was "Certified Fresh" at 97 percent.

On the win, director George Miller said in a statement: "It's always gratifying to have a positive critical response. It is, after all, how we learn about our work. And now here's a Golden Tomato! How cool!"

The movie that received the highest critical praise with a limited theatrical release was A24’s Room, while the best reviewed animated film went to Disney’s Inside Out.

Director Pete Docter said, "I read somewhere that eating tomatoes has been linked to heart health. Getting this one sure warmed mine. On behalf of the cast and crew of 'Inside Out,' thank you!"

On the TV side of things, the best reviewed comedy series was Master of None, while the drama prize went to AMC's Better Call Saul.
