'Mad Men' season opener gets 2 mil viewers

AMC series has 16 Emmy nominations

On the heels of its 16 Emmy nominations, including best drama series, AMC's "Mad Men" opened its second season with 2 million viewers.

That is more than double the 915,000 viewers the period drama averaged during its first season.

Set in the 1960s, "Mad Men" chronicles the lives of several chain-smoking and drinking ad men.

The Emmy nominations for the Lionsgate TV-produced series also include a nom for lead Jon Hamm and co-star John Slattery.
