Magician Documentary Wins Audience Award at AFI Docs

Justin Weinstein and Tyler Measom’s An Honest Liar, a documentary about master illusionist James "The Amazing" Randi, received the audience award for best feature at AFI Docs, the five-day documentary film festival that concluded Sunday in Washington, D.C.
The audience award for best short went to Sam Thonis’ Beyond Recognition: The Incredible Story of a Face Transplant.
Policymakers who participated in the festival’s various events included Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada, Sen. Barbara Boxer of California, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, Sen. Ed Markey of Massachusetts, South African Ambassador Ebrahim Rasool and Francois Rivasseau, deputy head of the EU delegation to the United States.
More than 100 filmmakers from 29 countries also attended AFI Docs, including Oscar winners Alex Gibney and Ross Kauffman as well as Academy Award nominees Joe Berlinger, Marshall Curry and Steve James.
