Magnet picks up 'Down Terrace'

Crime drama stars real life father and son

Magnet Releasing, the genre arm of Magnolia Pictures, has acquired worldwide rights to Ben Wheatley's crime drama "Down Terrace," which will play at the upcoming Slamdance Film Festival.

A dark comedy, "Down" stars real life father and son Bob and Robin Hill as Bill and Karl, the heads of a crime family struggling to keep their business together.

It was produced by Andrew Starke of Boum Productions and executive produced by Baby Cow Films, Steve Coogan and Henry Normal's production company.

The film will play the festival circuit this spring, with an theatrical release in the summer. The deal was negotiated by Magnolia's senior vp Tom Quinn with producer Starke.

Magnolia International will rep the film internationally at the upcoming Slamdance, Rotterdam and Berlin Film Festivals.
