Maika Monroe, Jeremy Allen White to Star in 'Shotgun'
Hannah Marks and Joey Power wrote and will direct the film.
Independence Day: Resurgence star Maika Monroe and Shameless actor Jeremy Allen White will lead the cast of Shotgun, written and directed by Hannah Marks and Joey Power.
The project is described as a unique romance blending heartfelt drama with offbeat comedy. The story follows Elliot (White) and Mia (Monroe) as they develop a fast relationship after one of them is diagnosed with a life-changing illness.
Jordan Yale Levine, Jordan Beckerman, Michael J. Rothstein and Ash Christian are producing the project. Sean Glover also will produce, and Wei Wang of WYSJ Media will executive produce. Production is slated for later this month, and The Exchange is handling sales.
"Maika and Jeremy could not be more perfectly suited to bring the complex and challenging characters of Mia and Elliot to life,” said Marks. "We are big fans of their work and are incredibly grateful and excited to have them on board," said Power.
Shotgun will mark the directorial debut for Marks and Power. Marks is also an actress, currently starring in BBC America’s Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency opposite Elijah Wood and Samuel Barnett. Marks appeared in last year's anthology thriller Southbound, and recently completed a starring role in the independent film Almost Home, based on the novel by Jessica Blank.
Monroe had breakout performances in a pair of films in 2014: The Guest and It Follows. She also starred in Fox’s Independence Day: Resurgence and The 5th Wave. She will soon be seen in The Tribes of Palos Verdes with Jennifer Garner and has wrapped work on I’m Not Here, Tau and Felt. She’s repped by WME and Management 360.
White plays Lip Gallagher on Showtime’s series Shameless. His film credits include Movie 43 and Viena and the Fantomes. He’s repped by WME and Hansen, Jacobson.
