Maike Haas Joins Paramount Pictures Germany as Exec Consultant (Berlin)

BERLIN – Veteran German film exec Maike Haas has moved to Paramount Pictures Germany to take on the job of executive consultant for local acquisition and production.

 The hire is part of Paramount's strategy to produce and distribute more local-language features, a strategy already successfully implemented by Disney, Sony, Universal and Warner Bros. in Germany.
Haas, who has worked in Disney and Sony's production divisions, will report directly to Paramount Pictures Germany head Sven Sturm.
Paramount's next German co-production, the Felicity Jones-headlined rom-com Powder Girl --  hits theaters here March 17. Other German co-productions on Paramount's 2011 slate include apocalyptic thriller Hell starring Hannah Herzsprung and Stipe Erceg and the comedy Offroad with Nora Tschirner. Paramount is also co-producing Oliver Schmitz' hotly anticipated Russian Disco which has just begun shooting in Studio Babelsberg.
