The Beachside film is written and directed by 'In the Treetops' helmer Matthew Brown.

Thomas Mann and Laia Costa are hitting the hiking trails.

The Me and Earl and the Dying Girl breakout and the Victoria star, respectively, will topline Beachside’s relationship drama Maine, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.

Written and directed by Matthew Brown (whose first feature, In the Treetops, was released last year), the film stars Costa as Bluebird, a married woman from Spain who encounters a younger American hiker, Lake (Mann), while thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail. Amid the anonymous setting of the nature trail, the two strangers begin revealing themselves to one another over a series of emotionally charged days and nights.

Maine is produced by Summer Shelton along with Michael B. Clark and Alex Turtletaub of Beachside, which also is financing the picture. Costa and Mann are both executive producers on the project. ICM Partners is handling domestic sales. The film is wrapping up production on location in Virginia.

Mann adds Maine to his upcoming slate, which also includes Warner Bros.' Kong: Skull Island; James Franco’s project The Heyday of the Insensitive Bastards; Anthony Scott Burns’ feature directorial debut, Our House; and Andrew Haigh’s drama Lean on Pete. He also stars off-Broadway opposite Jason Sudeikis in a new stage version of Dead Poets Society, which officially opens Nov. 17. Mann is repped by Innovative Artists, Industry Entertainment and attorney Adam Kaller.

Costa will be seen next in foreign thriller Nieve negra (Black Snow). She is repped by Anonymous Content and Hamilton Hodell.

Brown is repped by ICM Partners.
