Maiwenn, actresses have a 'Ball'

CANNES -- French actress and director Maiwenn is going to the ball to film her upcoming comedy "Le Bal des Actrices" (The Actress' Ball), the film's production company Les Films du Kiosque announced Friday.

Fresh off two Cesar Award nominations for her first turn in the director's chair, "Forgive Me," Maiwenn has teamed up again with producers Francois Kraus and Denis Pineau-Valencienne for another "film within a film" docu-comedy that explores the intimate lives of actresses.

The movie will follow a director making a movie about the life of an actress and zoom in -- with or without permission -- on the daily musings of famous femmes including Isabelle Adjani, Monica Bellucci, Charlotte Rampling and Linh-Dan Pham, star of Jacques Audiard's Cesar-winning "The Beat That My Heart Skipped."

Other well-known Gallic talent confirmed for the project include Jeanne Balibar, Marine Delterme, Melanie Doutey, Marina Fois, Mylene Jampanoi, Mathilda May, Muriel Robin, Karole Rocher, Florence Thomassin and Karin Viard.

Les Films du Kiosque is at the Cannes market with SND/M6 title "L'Ennemi Intime" directed by "Hostage" helmer Florent Emilio Siri.
