Demi Moore says she's in "absolute shock" over the death of a 21-year-old man in her backyard pool in Los Angeles.

The 52-year-old actress says in a statement released through her publicist Sunday that she's out of the country and wasn't home at the time but the death at a party hosted by her assistant is an "unthinkable tragedy."

Los Angeles County coroner's Lt. Fred Corral has now identified the victim as 21-year-old Edenilson Steven Valle.

Corral says Valle had gone missing for 10 or 15 minutes before his friends found him floating in the deep end of the pool at 5:30 a.m. Sunday. Valle's family and friends told investigators he didn't know how to swim

Los Angeles police responded to the home on the 9000 block of Oak Pass Road in West Los Angeles after a 911 call.

Sgt. A. Bone says Moore was not home at the time, and the man is not a family member. He was associated to someone with access to the pool.

A small crowd was around the man's body when police officers arrived.

Authorities say Moore's children have been having pool parties at the home, but it's unclear if a party was ongoing when the drowning occurred.

TMZ was first to report the drowning at Moore's home.
