'Mandela' Director Teams Up With Anthony Mackie for Johnnie Cochran Movie (Exclusive)
Justin Chadwick is in talks to direct the true-life tale, which will star Mackie as Cochran.
Justin Chadwick is in talks to direct the untitled Johnnie Cochran movie project that has Anthony Mackie attached to star.
Mackie will portray Cochran in the true-life tale that focuses not on the O.J. Simpson case, which is what most people know of the lawyer, but rather an early key case in his career: the 1981 landmark wrongful death case of college football player Ron Settles.
Producing are Robbie Brenner and Kevin McKeon. Mackie also is a producer on the project with manager Jason Spire.
Chadwick was a British TV director who made his feature debut with The Other Boleyn Girl, the 2008 period movie that starred Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson.
He also helmed Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, which starred Idris Elba as the South African leader, and has Tulip Fever, another period drama, in the can.
Chadwick is repped by UTA.
