Maple gets rights to 'Kingdom'

TORONTO – Canadian distributor Maple Pictures Friday said it has picked up the domestic rights to the Jet Li and Jackie Chan-starring action picture "The Forbidden Kingdom" from Relativity Media-unit Magnetik.

The deal enables Toronto-based Maple to release the action picture, which was shot on location in China, on April 18 simultaneous with its U.S. release by Lionsgate and The Weinstein Company.

The Rob Minkoff-directed movie pairs martial arts experts Chan and Li in their first-ever on-screen collaboration.
