Maple Leaf Sports Bans Fans for Crude Prank on Reporter (Video)
MLSE will also bring on extra security for female journalists as they report live from games.
A group of soccer fans outside of a Toronto FC game tried to prank CityNews reporter Shauna Hunt while she was on-air, but their plans backfired.
The men tried to continue the vulgar trend of yelling "F— her right in the pussy" while a journalist — usually female — speaks live on-camera. However, Hunt was not about to be harassed without defending herself. The reporter confronted several men on Sunday, and the entire incident was filmed. Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment released a statement today announcing the fans would be banned from all of their facilities.
“We’re appalled that this trend of disrespectful behaviour would make its way to our city, let alone anywhere near our stadium,” said MLSE. “"We are working to identify the individuals, and when we do they will be banned from all of our facilities.”
That's not all. The MLSE will be bringing on extra security for female journalists. “Moving forward, we will also work with our local television outlets to provide extra security support to female reporters doing live hits at any of our games,” said MLSE.
