Maple Pictures Snags Canadian Rights to Brad Pitt Film 'Cogan's Trade'

Canadian distributor acquires heist film from Inferno Distribution.

TORONTO – Canadian indie distributor Maple Pictures has picked up the local rights to Cogan’s Trade from Plan B Entertainment, with Brad Pitt starring as a gangland enforcer.

Andrew Dominick is to direct the indie pic, which is to start shooting in February with an ensemble cast that includes Sam Rockwell, Casey Affleck and Mark Ruffalo.

Based on the 1974 novel by George V. Higgins, the feature stars Pitt as Jackie Cogan, a hard boiled professional enforcer in gangland Boston.

Producers credits belong to Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner of Plan B.

The movie is slated for an early 2012 theatrical release.

The Canadian distribution deal was negotiated by John Bain for Maple Pictures and Kimberly Fox of Inferno Distribution for Plan B.
