Marco Kreuzpaintner sets up production house

'Her Name Was Lola' is firm's first project

COLOGNE, Germany -- Director Marco Kreuzpaintner ("Krabat") has set up his own production shingle, Summerstorm Entertainment, together with production partners Ossie von Richthofen -- a co-producer on Kreuzpaintner's "Trade" (2007) as well as Roland Emmerich's "10,000 BC"-- and Fabian M. Wolfart. The name of the company comes from Kreuzpaintner's drama "Summerstorm" (2004), which was his breakthrough film.

The company's first project will be "Her Name Was Lola," a cross-cultural romantic comedy about a Brazilian man and a British woman. Leonardo de Barro's Brazilian production company Conspiracao Filmes will co-produce. Jonathan Haagensen, one of the stars of "City of God" (2002) and the TV series "City of Men," is attached to star. Kreuzpaintner will direct with shooting set for early 2010 in London and Rio de Janeiro.

Other projects in development include the German-language production "Lemmings," a love story between two suicidal people; the sci-fi features "Dreamfisher" and "The 8th Day" and the sports drama "Boy Runner.
