The iconic white garment had been expected to go for $2 million at a Beverly Hills auction.
Marilyn Monroe's iconic white dress from The Seven Year Itch sold for a whopping $4.6 million at a Beverly Hills auction Saturday night, according to CNN.
The pleated halter dress -- the one seen in the movie billowing upward above a subway grate -- was expected to go for $2 million. In addition to the $4.6 million winning bid, the buyer will pay another $1 million in commission.

The bids were "totally crazy, especially in this recession," collector Keya Morgan told CNN.
Other Monroe outfits also sold at the action: A red-sequin gown and feathered had worn in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes went for $1.47 million, while costumes from There's No Business Like Show Business and River of No Return brought in another $1.2 million.
