Mario Martone's 'We Believed' Takes Seven Nods at Italy's David di Donatello Awards
The award for best director went to "Our Life," which also won the best actor prize for Elio Germano.
Mario Martone's We Believed scooped seven awards at Italy's David di Donatello Awards.
Martone's 19th century-set drama, produced by Palomar and RAI, was awarded for best picture, screenplay, cinematography, set design, costumes, makeup, and hair.
The award for best director went to La Nostra Vita (Our Life),which also won the best actor prize for Elio Germano.
The best first-time director David Award went to Rocco Papaleo for Basilicata Coast to Coast, a musical road movie.
Debut Italian director Aureliano Amadei's 20 Cigarette, about surviving a suicide bombing in Iraq, took four awards.
