Mark Burnett, MGM Team on Reality TV Pilot 'Destination Detour'
The show will feature three couples who start out on a dream vacation, only to face a massive detour.
Survivor creator Mark Burnett on Wednesday unveiled plans for a new reality TV project, Destination Detour, in which three couples will start out on a dream vacation, only to face a massive detour.
Burnett is developing the show as a one-hour pilot for Canada's W Network, which is set to air the show in 2016, but is hoping to sell worldwide. Production is slated to begin in August in Ontario.
Burnett will partner on the reality TV pilot with Omnicon Canada's Highway Entertainment, indie producer Insight Productions and United Artists Media Group, a joint venture involving MGM, Burnett, his wife, Roma Downey, and Hearst Corp. Burnett and another Canadian broadcaster, Bell Media, in March unveiled plans for a separate reality TV pilot, Dream Funded: Let the Crowd Decide, involving MGM, Hearst Entertainment and Entertainment One.
"We have been looking for the opportunity to expand our Canadian production relationship and working with the teams at Corus, Highway and Insight Productions made this a very easy project to say yes to," said Burnett, who will executive produce Destination Detour, in a statement.
