Mark Burnett has tapped reality vet Barry Poznick to lead unscripted programming at MGM Television.

Poznick — who founded Zoo Productions, spent years at All3 Media and most recently formed Barracuda Television Productions — previously worked with Burnett on several series, including Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?

"The opportunity to reunite with Mark, the master of innovative reality TV, and to work with the MGM unscripted team was a no-brainer,” Poznick said Thursday in a statement. “MGM is one of Hollywood's most legendary studios with primetime shows on every major network and hit shows on cable. I am excited to help them continue creating innovative, original and epic programming to entertain viewers around the world."

MGM, which merged with Burnett's TV operation in 2014 before naming him president of TV in 2015, now has one of the more enviable rosters of unscripted programming on TV. The lineup currently includes The Voice, Shark Tank, Survivor, Celebrity Apprentice and many others.

As president of unscripted, Poznick will report directly to Burnett and oversee the creative and development of all unscripted content.

"I took my time in finding the absolute best president for MGM’s unscripted television group. Barry Poznick is it,” said Burnett, “In order to produce hit television shows you need to be able to create, to produce and to market. Barry Poznick can do it all. He has been successful in primetime network, primetime cable and daytime syndication. We have made hundreds of hours of TV together and Barry is the perfect person to build upon MGM’s solid unscripted foundation.”

As president of MGM TV, Burnett now oversees a growing number of scripted series on top of its reality roster — Teen Wolf, Fargo and Vikings among them.
