Mark Gooder is joining the Weinstein Co. as president of acquisitions/Australian operations. He comes to TWC from Icon Productions, where he has been CEO for the past six years.
Gooder will be involved in the day-to-day running of the acquisitions department, bringing in projects from scripts through finished films. He will also attend major markets and festivals, beginning with the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival.
With the addition of Gooder, TWC also has promoted several key members of its acquisitions team: Dan Guando and Negeen Yazdi have been promoted from vp acquisitions to senior vp acquisitions and from vp acquisitions and co-productions to senior vp acquisitions and co-productions, respectively. Guando and Yazdi will continue to track domestic and international contacts and develop relationships with filmmakers, producers and key talent.
Jennifer Malloy continues with the team as director, acquisitions and co-productions.
“Mark has a proven history for smart and strategic choices when it comes to choosing quality titles, and Dan and Negeen have been responsible for building the incredible slate we have," TWC COO David Glasser said in making the announcement.
Gooder, who has served as CEO of Mel Gibson and Bruce Davey’s L.A.-based Icon Productions since 2006, started Icon Australia in 2000 and built that business into one of the leading independent distributors in Australia. Gooder has overseen Icon Productions’ international sales company and U.K distribution company from L.A. while also continuing to run Icon in Australia.
