Mark Sarfaty takes helm at Sydney fest

Fiona Cameron leaves for Screen Australia job

SYDNEY -- The Sydney Film Festival has appointed Mark Sarfaty as its new chief executive, three months after Fiona Cameron left to take the top managerial spot at Screen Australia.

Sarfaty resigned as a festival board member, a post he held for the past three years while also leading Dendy Cinemas, Australia's largest independent exhibitor.

Cameron's departure from the festival to become executive director of strategy and operations at Screen Australia is the first of several top-level shuffles expected in the film community as the new film agency's executive team is appointed in the coming months.
