Marketing exec Eugene Cofsky dies

Spent 43 years at ad agency founded by Monroe Greenthal

Eugene Cofsky, an entertainment marketing executive, died Nov. 1 at a hospital in Tarzana, Calif. He was 81.

Cofsky spent 43 years with an advertising agency founded by Monroe Greenthal. The agency was acquired by Ted Bates Inc. in 1969.

Cofsky moved to Los Angeles in 1974 to build the West Coast operations of the Diener/Hauser/Bates advertising agency, then departed in 1991 to pursue his own entertainment marketing consultancy, Ted/Lor Marketing.

Cofsky served on the board of directors and as executive vp of Variety: The Children's Charity, served as West Coast public relations director of the Will Rodgers Institute and was a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
