Marmor tapped to lead NDR

COLOGNE, Germany -- Lutz Marmor has been voted the new head of German regional public broadcaster NDR. Marmor will take over from current NDR boss Jobst Plog in January.

Marmor is deputy head and head of administration at WDR, Germany's largest regional public broadcaster.

NDR is one of Europe's largest public broadcasters and a major producer of television news and drama in Germany. In addition to dozens of TV series, the Hamburg-based broadcaster often acts as a co-producer on feature films, such as Fatih Akin's Berlin Golden Bear-winner "Head-On" and Oliver Hirchbiegel's "Ein Ganz Gewohnlicher Jude."
