The style stakes heated up at the 57th Annual Monte Carlo TV Festival over the weekend, where Matt Bomer doubled down on the double-breasted suit.

Bomer hit the carpet promoting the TV drama The Last Tycoon wearing a double-breasted Isaia summer suit, with a bold patterned tie, printed pocket square and two-toned 1940s-inspired tassel loafers by Ferragamo.

The series is set to premiere July 28 on Amazon Prime Video. Adapted from F. Scott Fitzgerald’s legendary work, The Last Tycoon is inspired by the life of film mogul Irving Thalberg, and follows Hollywood golden boy Monroe Stahr (Bomer) as he battles his father figure and boss Pat Brady (Kelsey Grammer) over the future of their studio.

Styled by Jeanne Yang, Bomer looked every inch a Hollywood golden boy at the festival on Sunday night, celebrating The Last Tycoon premiere, when he walked the carpet in another double-breasted look, a midnight blue tuxedo by Ermenegildo Zegna Couture and Tods loafers worn sockless (natch).

Double-breasted suits are "having a revival," says Yang, adding that "for both business and black tie, [the style] has added a new avenue for the red carpet."

Jussie Smollett, who was styled by Apuje Kalu, also worked a double-breasted look at the fest on Friday night, wearing a silk patterned double-breasted suit by Bottega Veneta, whose designer Tomas Maier is often inspired by the golden age of Hollywood.
