The Twizzler Challenge started as a benefit for autism.

Matt Lauer and Kathie Lee Gifford locked lips — twice! — on the Today show, all in the name of charity.

The NBC colleagues pulled a Lady and the Tramp stunt on St. Patrick's Day by each biting their way through both ends of the same Twizzler until their lips met in the middle.

The Twizzler Challenge started on the eve of Jon Stewart and Comedy Central's Night of Too Many Stars autism event two weeks ago, when Willie Geist was challenged by a Twitter follower to do the challenge with Uzo Aduba. The challenger agreed to give a monetary donation if Geist and Aduba went through with the stunt.

Meredith Vieira and Geist also partook in the challenge on her show — and donated $5,000 toward programs that help those with autism — while co-stars Lena Dunham and Allison Williams posted their Twizzler-nibbling experience on Instagram.

"Here @aw and I are taking the #TwizzlerChallenge. Pass it on!
#NightofTooManyStars #NYC4a," wrote Dunham.

Participants in the Twizzler Challenge are meant to document and nominate, resembling the 2014 viral Ice Bucket Challenge that raised millions of dollars for Lou Gehrig's disease.
