Director Matt Reeves told The Hollywood Reporter that it was emotional coming back to San Francisco. "It was one of the memorable places that we scouted for locations. Now it's two years later, the movie is done, and we're about to show it to the world. It's very special."

The 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' director brings 'End of Watch' executive producer Adam Kassan into the 6th & Idaho fold

Matt Reeves, who directed this summer's mammoth hit Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, is launching a production company and is filling out his executive team.

The writer-director-produer, who signed a three-year overall deal with Fox in August, has formed 6th & Idaho and has hired Adam Kassan to serve as executive VP. He also promoted longtime associate Rafi Crohn to director of development.

"I'm so thrilled to have Adam join our team; he has extraordinary taste and instincts, and I can't wait to roll up my sleeves with him and Rafi to find and create projects that inspire us across all genres," Reeves said.

Kassan joins the company — a reference to an intersection in Santa Monica — from John Lesher's Le Grisbi Productions, where he executive produced End of Watch and co-executive produced Black Mass, the upcoming Whitey Bulger film at Warner Bros. that stars Johnny Depp and is directed by Scott Cooper. Before Le Grisbi, Kassan worked with Lesher at Paramount Vantage and also served as VP at Paramount Pictures. During his tenure at the studio, he worked on such films as No Country for Old Men, There Will Be Blood and Star Trek. Kassan began his career at Miramax Films and then Plan B Entertainment.

Crohn previously worked at CAA and with director Nanette Burstein.

Reeves, whose Dawn of the Planet of the Apes has earned $708 million worldwide, is represented CAA, 3 Arts and Jackoway Tyerman.
