Mays lands role in 'Mall Cop'

"Epic Movie" star Jayma Mays will play the love interest of Kevin James in the upcoming comedy formerly known as "Mall Cop."

The project, now referred to as the untitled Kevin James comedy, is being produced by James and Happy Madison Prods. Filming is set to begin this month in Boston.

The comedy is about a security guard (James) who is thrust into action when the mall he patrols is taken over by highly organized thieves. Mays plays the owner of a hair-extensions kiosk at the mall.

Keir O'Donnell ("Wedding Crashers") also joins the cast as fellow security guard Veck, who eventually turns on his colleague.

The cast also includes Shirley Knight, Raini Rodriguez, Stephen Rannazzisi and Adam Ferrara.

"Daddy Day Care" director Steve Carr is helming the project. James penned the script with Nick Bakay. Steve Pink polished the screenplay.

James' manager Jeff Sussman also is producing along with Todd Garner.

Mays, repped by Gersh and Framework Entertainment, appeared in "Red Eye" and had stints on NBC's "Heroes" and ABC's "Ugly Betty."

O'Donnell appeared in "The Break-Up" and next stars in the thriller "Amusement" for Paramount and the drama "Pathology" for Lakeshore Entertainment. He is repped by UTA and Visionary Entertainment.
