McAlpine to hold master class at Cinema India

'Moulin Rouge' cinematographer to give three-day seminar

NEW DELHI -- Oscar-nominated cinematographer Donald McAlpine ( “Moulin Rouge”) will hold a three day masterclass at the upcoming Cinema India Expo June 3-5 in Mumbai.

McAlpine, a member of the American Society of Cinematographers and the Australian Cinematographers Society, began his career in Australia where he worked with Bruce Beresford and Gillian Armstrong. He was nominated for an Oscar for 2002's “Moulin Rouge” directed by his long-time collaborator Baz Luhrmann.

McAlpine received the 2009 ASC International Achievement Award, the first Australian recipient of this honor. In the course of his 35-year career, McAlpine has been recognized at the BAFTA awards, the Satellite Awards, The Chicago International Film Festival and the Australian Film Institute.

Annual industry event Cinema India Expo will mark its 10th anniversary this year with a special focus on digital cinematography and 3D projection including 3D cinema delivery and distribution.
