Co-founder Dan Le Batard hinted at a possible partnership on his 'South Beach Sessions' podcast Wednesday morning
Meadowlark Media may soon add another big name from Hollywood to its roster: Multi-hyphenate Adam McKay.
McKay was a guest on Meadowlark co-founder Dan Le Batard's South Beach Sessions podcast Wednesday morning, and Le Batard suggested that the two would be working together in the future.
Meadowlark declined to comment on whether McKay would be working with the company, but an industry source tells The Hollywood Reporter that the two are in talks to formalize the relationship.
“I don’t think we’re violating anything when I say that Adam McKay and I are thrilled to just be doing stuff in the future together," Le Batard said on the podcast. "He has been a very supportive friend. I am touched and honored that he is doing anything with us.”
Meadowlark, founded by Le Batard and former ESPN president John Skipper, has been turning to Hollywood as it ramps up its content development. Its first project is a podcast hosted by Hank Azaria's fictional sportscaster Jim Brockmire, and the company recently announced adviser deals with producer Michael Schur (The Office, Parks and Recreation, The Good Place) and former ESPN host Jemele Hill.
It isn't exactly clear what role McKay would have with Meadowlark, but an advisory role similar to the ones with Hill and Schur seems to be the most likely path, given his film deal with Paramount and TV deal at HBO.
"Officially, I can announce it to the world now. He is the junior adviser to the senior adviser in charge of Ham here at Meadowlark Media. That is the official title. The lawyers have written it up,” Le Batard joked of McKay's role.
“The junior adviser to the senior adviser’s junior adviser of Ham,” McKay responded.
