Hong Kong film studio Media Asia has joined Wanda Studios as a co-producer of director Renny Harlin’s forthcoming action crime thriller Bodies at Rest.

Starring Hong Kong’s Nick Cheung, Chinese actress Yang Zi and Taiwanese actor Richie Jen, the action flick kicks off in a morgue, where a hardworking forensics expert and his assistant are accosted by masked intruders who demand access to a body involved in a crime.

Media Asia is handling worldwide sales of the title and began shopping it to buyers at AFM. The film already has begun shooting in mainland China and is targeting a late 2018 release.

Best known in Hollywood for his 1990s action hits Die Hard 2 and Cliffhanger, Harlin, originally from Finland, uprooted his life and career to Beijing two years ago to pursue opportunities in the booming Chinese film sector. He first directed last year’s Jackie Chan action-comedy Skiptrace, co-starring Johnny Knoxville. After that project earned $136.6 million in the Middle Kingdom, Harlin signed on to direct Legend of the Ancient Sword for Alibaba Pictures.
